Primesense pretty much created the consumer 3D market when, along with Microsoft, they innovated the Kinect 3D sensor. What started there has blossomed into an entire development ecosystem, things like: facial scanning, eye movement tracking, gesture control, the very foundation for the visual element of Perceptual Computing, etc. There are so many other rich use cases are out there to be created, and it’s worth your time.

A few months ago Apple bought Primesense. Your guess is as good as any when it comes to figuring exactly what they will do with the tech in the future. But one thing is certain; It will be eventually be mobile, it will be at huge scale, and it will be awesome.

This is a listing for the Primesense Carmine 1.09 short range 3D camera sensor, aka the last incredible product that Primesense released commercially before the Apple acquisition. They are no longer on the market. We’ve acquired some, and would love to pass them on to you at the best price on the market.

Description from the documentation:

The Primesense 3D Depth Sensor is an end-to-end solution that enables devices to perceive the world in 3D and to translate these perceptions into a synchronized image, in the same way that people do, thus harnessing the power of Natural Interaction. The solution includes a sensor component, which comprehends the user's interaction within these surroundings.

The 3D Depth Sensor sees and tracks user movements within a scene. All sensor activity is performed without any assumptions about the user or the enviornment. No wearable equipment is required, making the solution practical, convenient, intuitive and easy to use.

The sensor includes several optional sensory input capabilities: Depth (3D) Image, color (RGB) image and audio (the sensor has 2 microphones).

[NOTE]: I have personally tested this successfully, and so have many client for their various use cases, with USB 3.0. Your mileage may vary, but I wouldn’t expect it too. The old wrapper on this technology, the Asus Xtion Pro Live, didn’t work with 3.0, but the Carmine short range most certainly does. We DO NOT accept returns, All Sales are Final, unless by a small chance there is a USB 3.0 issue.[/NOTE]

Buyers please note, this indeed works with a wide variety of use cases. But keep in mind that we are selling the hardware. We don’t deal with the apps. What we can do is point you to the drivers and middleware. Anything beyond is left up to users to explore.

You could try searching for the Asus Xtion Pro Live to give your discovery some broader search parameters.
